Membership Information

Membership in the Northwest Management Association is voluntary and is open to all FO/TSC management and supervisory positions. Membership is $130 per year. Payroll withholding is available at $5 per pay period.

What do you gain from membership?

The NWMA along with the nine other regional management associations, belong to an umbrella organization called the National Council of Social Security Management Associations (NCSSMA). With over 3400 members nationally, NCSSMA represents over 75% of FO/TSC management. As a member, you have the opportunity to have your concerns and ideas heard by the highest levels of SSA leadership. NCSSMA retains a representative in Washington D.C. Our concerns are presented firsthand to Members of Congress, their staffs, Congressional committees, other interested parties (e.g., the SSA Advisory Board), OPM, and other federal executive agencies. NCSSMA is active in government-wide consortiums such as the Coalition for Effective Change and the Government Managers Coalition.

You are informed of issues of interest at the national level through legislative reports, summaries of meetings with SSA executives, regular emails, and through our membership newsletter.

Membership in the NWMA also provides opportunities for you to get involved in many activities, such as serving on committees and workgroups, holding office, and meeting with agency executives. These activities are not only interesting and worthwhile in their own right, but they offer the chance to increase your skill levels in a variety of areas. Active membership can also increase your visibility throughout the region. As you meet and work with others, you have the opportunity to become known beyond the boundaries of your TSC or District. Finally, membership ties you in to a network of field office and TSC management knowledge and experience that you can draw from to help you out with issues you are experiencing in your own job.
