September NCSSMA Meeting notes
Paul gave brief summary of September DCO meeting. Deta= iled minutes from the NCSSMA meeting will be released soon.
While 2010 budget looks decent the 2011 and 2012 budge= ts look tight.
More staffing will going to the T= SC’s. There will be plenty o= f OT for the next year. NC asked a= bout converting OT into FTE’s. The DCO is not likely to do that given tight 2011 budget forecast. T= here was discussion of hiring temp or term employees in 2010. This will be decided at the RC level. There was also discussion of 2010 budget being enacted by the end of this year. There was also mention of addition= al priority workloads in 2010. T= hese include Work CDRS, RZ’s, LI’s, and Debt Collections
SSI offsets: Should be using E4345 and not MDW’s to send to PC to let them know when offset does not apply. Paul asked that if in your offices= , you are having problems with PC’s in regards = to offsets send an email out to Paul and he will forward it on to Greg.
Internet Blocking:
Informative information shared during DCO meeting on h= ow they determine which sites are blocked.&nb= sp; They will be sending out an electronic briefing on how this is decided. Once Paul receives i= nfo in electronic form he will share with EC.&nbs= p;
SR Profiles: The NCSSMA asked why SR’s can’t do a MAPS application; they felt th= at with the income and resources information that it was too involved for a SR= . NC will pursue gaining initial MAPS access for SR’s.
Met with Dr Regional Wells on hiring and reclassificat= ion of supervisory and Management jobs. &nbs= p; There is a new proposal on reclassifying jobs. The agency responded to OPM and ex= pressed great concern against any change that would result in lower grade levels fo= r FO personnel. .
WEB T&A: 600,000 federal employees already use this system. It automates all aspects of T&= A, leave requests and time sheets. We may a li= mited version of this software.. This software does away with signi= ng in. It presumes you work an eight hour day unless you tell it otherwise. Looks like this will be rolled out sometime in March 2010.
The Deputy Commissioner of Telephone system gave a presentation on the new 800 number phone system 2020. There was no chance to voice conce= rns in regards to TSRP. =
Regional Business
Judy asked if we could sponsor a social hour for the training next month in the RO. This was passed by the EC.
Annual Meeting: The NESSMA EC was polled and decided to hold the next NESSMA annual meeting on the weekend of April 16th. Paul will contact the Mystic Hilto= n to get confirm the date and proceed with the contract. The tentative meeting schedule is to travel Friday morning, meet with RO Executives and present awards Friday afternoon. We will run our NESSMA business meeting Saturday morning, and hold a banquet Saturday evening.
Karen volunteered to send out a heads up email to the membership in regards to the date of the meeting.
