There are unlimited
opportunities for you and your guests to experience. Within walking
distance of the Hilton City Center are the Shops at Grand Avenue which is
a large shopping mall featuring national stores as well as those which are
uniquely Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee River is
a few short blocks from the hotel. The riverwalk is alive with
restaurants and shops where you can enjoy the late season boaters. The
Milwaukee Public Market
which opened last summer, mirrors the famous Pike’s Market in
Seattle. Vendors offer freshly made items including bakery, seafood,
cheese, candies and much more.
The Public Market is
in the heart of the historic
Third Ward which is an old warehouse district transformed into
luxury loft condominiums, unique shops and restaurants along the riverwalk
which hugs the Milwaukee River as it meets the harbor.
Old World Third Street
is home to Usinger’s Famous Sausage Company and the Spice House as well as
other uniquely German businesses.
Milwaukee’s lakefront
is a must-see opportunity. The lakefront is home to Summerfest which is
one of the largest outdoor concerts in the world. The lakefront is also
home to the Milwaukee Art Museum, Pier Wisconsin and the War Memorial
Center.
The National Trust for Historic
Preservation, the country's largest private, nonprofit preservation
organization, today named
Milwaukee to its 2006 list of America’s Dozen Distinctive
Destinations, an annual list of unique and lovingly preserved communities
in the United States. It was selected from 93 destinations in 39 states
that were nominated by individuals, preservation organizations and local
communities.
Potawatomi Bingo and Casino operates
a 14 person shuttle bus between six downtown hotels, including the Hilton
that runs on the hour from 5 pm to midnight. There are several
restaurants at the casino including a buffet.
