Welcome to San Diego!

As hosts of NCSSMA's 36th Annual Meeting, we are pleased to welcome you to San Diego.  The Westin Horton Plaza is located in the heart of Downtown San Diego, and is just a short walk from the historic Gaslamp Quarter.  The Gaslamp is an eight by two block district containing over 90 diverse restaurants, shops, coffeehouses, and night clubs.  The hotel is also adjacent to the Horton Plaza shopping center, home to over 140 shops, restaurants, and boutiques.  You are also a short drive away from our over 70 miles of beaches.

We hope you enjoy your stay at the Westin Horton Plaza, located at 910 Broadway Circle, San Diego CA. The room rate is $120 for a single and $140 for a double. These rates are good from Saturday, October 29 through Friday, November 4, 2005. Valet parking for hotel guests is available for $20 a day, and includes in-and-out privileges. The day only parking price is $14.  The hotel has a fitness center, heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, and offers spa services.  Contact the hotel at 1-800-WESTIN-1 or 619-239-2200 by September 29, 2005 to make your room reservations and mention that you are a part of the National Council of Social Security Management Associations (NCSSMA).  

The San Diego International Airport is located along the San Diego harbor, only a few miles from our hotel. Shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is available through Cloud 9 Shuttle for approximately $7 per person (one-way), or you can take a taxi for approximately $15.  

“America's Finest City” is home to over 1.3 million people, making it the second-largest city in California.  Holiday Magazine voted San Diego “the only area in the United States with perfect weather.” The average high temperature for November is 71, reaching lows in the 50s in the evenings. Be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket and some good walking shoes.
